My name is Kylie Matthews and I have almost 20 years experience as a journalist, publicist and editor in book publishing and the media.

I’m a full-time freelance journalist who is commissioned to write feature articles; I also edit and produce content for mainstream newspapers, magazines and online publications. My most recent writing has appeared in an array of print and online publications, including huffingtonpost.com.au news.com.aukidspot.com.au, Highlife magazine, The Smith Journal, Good Reading magazine, Body+Soul, The Illawarra Mercury, whimn.com.au and Marie Claire magazine.

I’ve been employed and contracted by book publishers and media outlets in Australia and abroad, including Simon & Schuster Australia, Macmillan Education (Oxford UK), Routledge (Oxford UK), The Manly Daily, The Illawarra Mercury and, most recently, Bauer Media and News Corp’s online parenting publication, Kidspot.

I have an excellent interviewing style and, with daily newspaper experience, sure know how to meet a tight deadline. I pride myself on versatility and an ability to adopt writing styles to appeal to and connect with varying audiences.

It is always my priority to produce high quality, accurate and effective copy that exceeds expectations.

In addition, I offer professional editorial services (copyediting and structural editing) to book publishers, develop marketing materials for corporate clients and write copy for new and revamped websites.

Originally from Melbourne, I’ve travelled extensively and lived and worked overseas several times. I read books, newspapers and current affairs publications copiously and my personal interests lie in Australian politics, books and literature and the changing face of the media.
